Occupational Lung Disease

lungs may be at risk from environmental conditions and unhealthy lifestyles. Besides cigarettes, air pollution in the work environment can be harmful to the lungs.

The lungs are one of the organs in the respiratory system that serves as a traded his oxygen from the air that replaces carbon dioxide in the blood. This process is known as respiration using a rock as a binding hemoglobin oxygen. After O2 in the blood is bound to hemoglobin, then applied to the entire body.

Here are 12 diseases listed in the lungs exposure to Steve Parker in the book "Encyclopedia of the Human Body".

Occupational Lung Disease

Asbestosis, silicosis and pneumoconiosis caused by inhaling particles that irritate and make the inflammation of lung tissue, leading to the onset of fibrosis. People at high risk of lung disease due to work, the workers are exposed to toxic particles over the years, such as mine workers.

In lung diseases due to work, there is a slowly thickening (fibrosis) of lung tissue, which ultimately lead to irreversible scarring.

Symptoms:

Symptoms such as shortness of breath and coughing may occur slowly, but then deteriorated many years after exposure to disappear. In developed countries, the disease is exceedingly rare because most workers use protective clothing and masks in hazardous environments, but in developing countries are often not adhered to this rule.

Silicosis

Silicosis is a lung disease caused by the working environment. This disease is a pneumoconiosis caused by inhalation of crystalline silica particles are free.

Silica is a kind of material that is widely used in building and construction companies. Silica in solid form is not dangerous, but the shape of the dust grains is not good for the lungs. Which includes free silica is quartz, tridymite, and cristobalite.

Asbestosis

Asbestosis is a lung disease caused by many substances are inhaled asbestos lungs, causing severe damage. In some cases of asbestosis, there can be lung cancer.

- Lung Cancer

The presence of a malignant tumor in the lung is called lung cancer. Lung cancer is the most common cancer in the world and more than one million new cases are found each year.

Cause:

The most frequent cause of lung cancer were found nearly 90 percent of all cases are smoking. Many irritants are inhaled while breathing triggers the growth of abnormal cells in the lungs, but cigarettes contain thousands of carcinogens (cancer-causing).

In very rare cases, lung cancer caused by asbestos, toxic chemicals or radioactive gas radon. As with other cancers, lung cancer can also be triggered by the presence of genetic factors and the adoption of unhealthy lifestyles, such as smoking and generally drinking too much alcohol, and lack of exercise.

Symptoms:

Early symptoms of lung cancer are not specific. However, generally persistent cough that usually the earliest symptoms. Because most people with lung cancer are smokers, so called "smokers cough". Other symptoms such as coughing up blood, wheezing, weight loss, constant hoarseness, and chest pain.

Treatment:

If laboratory tests ensure lung cancer, lobectomy or removal of a lobe of the lung, or pnenomektomi which is removal of the lung as a whole to do. It is usually recommended only if the tumor is small and has not spread. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be given to relieve symptoms, not aim to cure the disease.

The spread of lung cancer:

Lung cancer can spread (metastasize) to other body parts. Metastasis to the bone can cause pain and fractures. In the brain causing headaches and loss of consciousness, as well as in the liver leads to weight loss and jaundice in which the skin becomes yellowish.
